A Love Story.......How This Daddy and T met.........part 4

April 15, 2000..........Today is the big day..............

So with T getting up extra early to go back to her place and start getting ready, I slept in a little bit, but not too much longer.  With the guys that were in my party, I had to make sure that first they were back and second that they were ready to go ON TIME.  I hate being late for things.  So up and ready and all the guys ready to go, we all went down and hopped in the very sweet Pearl White Cadillac that I had rented. So we get on the road and realize that I have no clue of where I am going and one of my buddies, Lanky Mike asks me to pull over for some altoids. "NO", I am not pulling over for some f-ing altoids.  He insists and tries to grab the wheel from the back and now, on my wedding day I am about to start throwing punches with a guy in the back seat over altoids. Seriously, we were about to go to blows.

After the drama we finally arrive at the Sullivan House a very nice old Southern style home.  The place is set up very nice and neat and all of us head down to the bac of the house and all of the wedding stuff starts from there.  Gretting family, friends, the Preacher.  Was I nervous, I don't think so, I really felt like this was what I wanted to do.  I loved this girl and after only 10 months, I still felt like I wanted to be with T for the rest of my life.

Fast forward........It was a beautiful day, a great day to have an outside wedding.  Everyone sitting in the chairs and me and the guys walking down getting into position.  The gazebo was set up with the Unity Candle and the Preacher and we got into place.  Now all of the Grooms Men and the Brides Maids had walked down together and we are set to go.  Music starts a sweet little tune by the Classical Pachabel and everyone is waiting.......waiting.....waiting......still waiting.....ok what the fuck?  Where is T?  This shit is not cool!!!

Just to let you all know that were not there.....T......as we practiced in the walk through was supposed to come out of the front door to the Souther Style Mansion House and we kept waiting and I kept looking.  I had no idea that T.........

Was going to be coming around the house in a horse drawn carriage.  I saw this and my boy Fiedler saw this and he said to me "uh...did you know about this?"  My response as I shook my head and took a breath was "Hell No!"  I am scared of horses was the next thought in my mind.  But here she came like a princess around the house through the open field and up to the entrance.  I was in so much shock, I had no clue that she was doing that.

I can still remember her getting out of the carriage and being walked down the isle by her cousin Bo.  She looked so awesome.  Her short brown hair (it was actually up with a million pins) ( i love her with short hair), her tan skin looked so nice in that white dress, her smile....she was hot (still is too).  This was it.  Pachebel still playing and everyone looking at her and watching her come to me.  She gets there and stands next to me and we hold hands and listen to the preacher talk to us about love, marriage and togetherness.  We exchange vows and rings and as we stand in the gazebo lighting the unity candle, Shania Twain sings in the background.  (Not really her, but her music).  As we look at each other and laugh a little, she whispers to me "Im not wearing any panties"  (CHECK PLEASE) We both laugh and that was such a classic moment for us.  I will never forget that.

We then kissed and walked down the isle to the carriage to go for our first ride together as Mr and Mrs S.  Finally we were married and then had a nice reception that followed. Pictures and the whole thing.

Now 10 years later we may look different but our love is still the same. I love T just like I did back then if not more.  She has become a great woman, mother and wife.  She is my best friend, my lover and the mother of our C's.  This may have been a 4 part Love Story about how we met and made it down the isle, but it by no means is the last chapter in our life together.  We have overcome rough patches, moves across the country and here we are today.....Married for 10 years, still going strong and the happy parents of 4 great kids.

Happy Anniversary honey, I love you and can't wait to take you back to the Sullivan House this weekend for our picnic.

I could almost see the Altoid fight leading to Hangover moment.

Congrats on ten years to you and T.

I'm only half way there and it's been tough.

Happy Anniversary.

This story was well worth the time it took to read. So sweet, and this last little part brought tears to my eyes.

OK, so now I'm teary-eyed and I have to go back and read parts 1-3. What a beautiful story. It's so good to read about healthy and happy marriages. I think too often, especially in this decade more so than the last few decades, we have heard about the other side of the story. Thanks so much for sharing and Happy Anniversary to you and your beautiful wife!

Happy anniversary to you two! :o)

We celebrate 9 years this July. I now realize that getting married in 2000 would have been nice...it would have been easier for Josh to remember how long we've been married. Makes it easy for you, right? Ha!
