Elfie's on the move.

December 1st.  Can you believe it is already December?

Start counting the days people.

So, time for the daily Elfie spotting.  I woke up this morning and was running a little late, so I was hurrying and as I opened the fridge I noticed the little blue eyed Elfie looking at me.
He was hanging onto a bottle of red wine by the Advent Calender.  Close to the side of the 1st day.  I started thinking about if it was a sign that T and I needed to fill the doors with treats for the C's.  Usually we put little Hershey Kisses in each door, but we are trying to get away from them thinking that they have to get candy as a treat every day.

I looked at Elfie and thought I would see if he would talk to me???
"Elfie, what you doing up there?"  He hits me with a blank stare...hmmm, ok.
I paid it no mind.  Got my breakfast ready and thought I would give it another try.
"Elfie, you know, if you wanted some red wine all you had to do is ask"...Still no response...whatever..

I start to walk off and I thought I heard something...Turned around and looked at Elfie...ahh couldn't be.

As I was leaving, C1 came calling my name..."Daddy, Daddy, we have a problem!!!!"
OH SH*&!!!!!  I had no idea what was about to come out of him mouth...Did C1 just catch me talking to Elfie?  Was I about to be put in a very bad situation?  Thankfully not.
"Daddy, YOU forgot to get me more apple juice last night!!!"
"C1, you are absolutely right, I'm sorry, let me get you some right now"

So I am getting him juice and he is telling me that he got NO sleep last night since I did not allow him to read or draw in bed last night.  See he was not feeling good and I wanted him to get a lot of rest.  He reads and draws each and every night.  Well he did sleep cause T went into the boys room and saw C1 & C2 sleeping.

Back to Elfie....I am so in love with the fact that Elfie has come to live with us.  It has made a huge difference in C2 attitude, and when something is going on in the house, you can hear the C's say "Elfie is watching".  I think everyone should get one.  No matter how young or old, there are things that parents can do to make our children believe that Christmas really is special.

For the C's to be so into Elfie, it makes me feel so good.

There is one thing that makes me believe all over again every year.
The Polar Express....One of the greatest movies ever made in my eyes.  It is so wonderful how that boy has lost the love and spirit of the Christmas Day, that when he finds it, it is so magical that he can't believe he ever lost it in the first place.

What makes you feel special about this time of year and what do you do that goes above and beyond to make your kids feel that there really is a
Santa Clause?

As always,

Ok. A side note.  Don't forget to go and hit the giveaway link it you haven't entered the giveaways yet.  I have two giveaways and there is still time to enter.

Welcome to the world of Twitter!

Polar Express is my favorite movie too and we love to eat sugar cookies & drink hot cocoa while we watch it.

Elfie rocks....I should get us one but again, Elfie would probably be in the same place all 25 days..HA!

So Who Is The Crayon Wrangler? December 1, 2010 at 10:30 PM   Reply to

I was just telling the husband about The Elf tonight. He said he was uncomfortable about the fact that a doll was watching the children and coming to life at night for recon missions. I think he watched too many Chucky movies.

My kids are just now getting into Santa so we don't really have any stiff traditions yet for keeping the magic, but I hope to maybe find some this year!
