Fridays Final Thoughts 7-1-11..Weekend of the 4th..History in the Making

This Daddy's Blog

It's the weekend of the 4th of July.

Twelve years ago this weekend is when I met the person that would change my life forever.

Five of us got drunk on a Thursday night. It was at that point we decided that we were going on a road trip. To where we were not sure. Then it hit us.

That next morning the five of went to work and told our boss that we were going somewhere and he said he would give us money and lets us leave right then if we would do one thing for him.

Take Phil with us.

So after driving from Houston to Panama City Beach, Fl. we landed and began the weekend of the 4th in style.

First place we hit was.

Harpoon Harrys

It was at this bar that I met T. T was with her friends from Ga.

We were both drunk.
She thought I was gay.
We danced.
We walked on the beach.
We looked for lost flip flops.

We slept on the beach.
Got woke up by hotel sprinklers.
She beat on my hotel door like she was a cop.
Scared us guys.

We spent another night together.
On a cold tile hotel room floor.
Listened to drunk dudes fart.
Stole pillows and blankets from drunk farting dudes.

We woke.
We walked.
I gave her my toll free work number.
We said our goodbyes.

The rest is history.
Sweet History.

Is the 4th of July special to you? Why? Maybe this is your year to make a special memory. Enjoy it.

You had me at "She thought I was gay."

That was near the beginning of my story with my ex wife as well. I laughed at the similarities.

Glad you have good memories about this holiday. My current girl and I first became an item 2 1/2 years ago on Sept 11... hard to celebrate on that day...

Its funny, i was fighting with a buddy of mine who was talking to two ladies and she thought i was mad at him for that, and thought i was gay.

As for you and your current lady, you can celebrate that day. I would think it would make it more special since you now have someone to share that day with.

PCB? Nice! The Mrs. and I did PCB on our honeymoon and the next two anniversary vacations as well. Cool story that you all hooked up there. I love it down there. I can't remember if we did Harpoon Harry's or not.

I went to PCB for Spring Break one year. Wow that was a fun time! Must admit to some tile sleeping myself :)
