We can talk about the stupid people that roll their eyes at breastfeeding in public, or those that make comments about it, but not today. Today I am going to just say that I am so proud of my wife for breastfeeding all four of the C's. It would have been so easy for her to give up and hit the bottle. Like when C1 and T were having trouble and the nasty nurse at the hospital told us he was gonna have to use the bottle to eat or we couldn't go home...Bitch...We showed her. We used that ultra awesome lactation lady in our area, i think her name is Denise. Man she was the best. Helped T out, told me how to help and lots more.
T had something said to her a year or two ago at the Atlanta Zoo by a security guard when she was breastfeeding there in public and she handled it well. She hates when I talk her up and do nothing but put her on the clouds but she never see's it from the outside like I do. I can see the people she talks to and those she gives advice to and they really appreciate it. Even though they may not use the tools she tries to give them, they are always listening.
You know how many people out there don't have the support from family and friends when it comes to breastfeeding. You know how many people don't have the knowledge. You know how many people try and quit. You know how many people for whatever reason don't in the first place. You know you can get donated breastmilk. You know its faster to give the boob than a bottle. You know its easier to hold your child while you breastfeed. Tell people you know.
We were in the mall a few weeks ago and a woman was breastfeeding. T walks up to her and says "Good for You" and we walk on. That woman probably thought T was nuts but she will look back and feel good about that moment. I feel good about T doing that.
So to my wife I say, do what you do for as long as you do. Thanks for Breastfeeding our C's.
I just wanted to do a quick post.. This doesn't come close to saying everything about how I feel about breastfeeding and my wife who has breastfed all of our C's. Some longer than others, but all of them. I have learned so much over the past 7 years about breastfeeding. The benefits to the moms and to the kids.
And there are no negatives!
